The
Project
In the beginning,
there was a vague idea: recording
solo pieces, most of them improvised,
on the theme of wind. To increase
movement, I added some percussions.
Then we superposed other sounds
with the terms and conditions
proposed by Frederic Leibovitz
of saving only the first takes.
Finally,
we extracted, cut, pasted, juxtaposed,
edited and finalized the presentation
of these musical puzzles, thanks
to the reliable and talented
help of David Cook on the Pro
Tools station, a composition
tool like manuscript paper and
pencil....
The
order of the titles on WINDPRINTS
is contrary to the manner in
wich the pieces were recorded:
On this CD, we begin with polyphonies
then biphonies and go to the
minimalism of the Zeff (a PVC
bass flute with no finger hole).
Between music and noise, flute
and breeze, the harmonics plunge
into the Archives of the Winds.
